Jiah Khan

The first in our list of Female Celebrities Who Committed Suicide is Jiah Khan. She was born on 20 February to a muslim family living in New York. She spent most of her childhood and teenage in New York. Jaih then moved to Mumbai to pursue her career as an actress in Bollywood. But before she entered the industry she changed her name from Nafisa Khan to Jiah Khan. Her first film was Nishbad in 2007, then she appeared in Ghanjini in 2008. Her last film was housefull released in 2010. In 2012 she changed her name back to Nafisa Khan and on 3 june 2013  she was found dead in her apartment. She hanged herself.

 Marilyn Monroe

The second on our list of Female Celebrities Who Committed Suicide is Marilyn Monroe. She was found dead in her home in Los Angeles on 5 august 1962. The cause of her death was the overdoes of pills. She became the sex symbol of Hollywood. Monroe’s “acute barbiturate poisoning” was listed as a “probable suicide,” but many people believe that it was an accidental overdose or even a murder. The mystery surrounding her death continues to haunt her fans.

Divya Bharti

She was a big success as soon as she stepped into the industry. Divya Om Prakash Bharti was an Indian film actress who was hailed as “the most interesting young actress of her generation”. Divya has worked in a large number of films, and not only in Hindi films but also in Telugu and Tamil films in the early 1990s. The tragic end of the 19-year old Divya, who had fallen from the window of her fifth floor apartment around midnight on 5th April, 1993 still stays as one of the most shocking deaths ever. Whether the promising actress committed suicide or met an accidental death still remains a mystery.

Silk Smitha

At number four in our list of top five Female Celebrities Who Committed Suicide we have Silk Smitha. She was an Indian film artiste who worked most in the South Indian Films. She was a success there. Though she started as a junior artist but she soon was noticed. She was first noticed for her role in Silk in the year 1979. Then later in the 1980s she became the most sought-after erotic actress. She was found dead on the morning of September 23, 1996 in her home in Saligramam near Chennai, hanging by a rope from the ceiling fan in her bedroom. In a suicide note that she had written in Telugu, she claimed that continual failure in life had led to frustration and made her take this drastic step. Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture was loosely based on the life of Silk Smitha.

Lucy Gordon

The last on our list of Female Celebrities Who Committed Suicide is Lucy Gordon. She was a British actress and model. Before she started her acting career she was a model, and became the face of CoverGirl in 1977. One of her best film was perfume in 2001, and then she got a small role in Spider – Man 3 and The Four Feathers. She was found hanged in her flat in Paris on 20 May 2009 after committing suicide, just two days before her 29th birthday.
